JDM front end conversion with one-piece headlights (headlights, radiator core support, hood, fenders, bumper)
into Integra (from Integra (JDM) / Integra Type R)
Yes: the JDM front end conversion with one-piece headlights (headlights, radiator core support, hood, fenders, bumper) from the Integra (JDM) / Integra Type R (1995-2001) fits the Integra (1994-2001) — difficult difficulty, modifications required.
Installation notes
Required modifications
The JDM one-piece headlights need the JDM front end around them. Parts listed: headlights, upper radiator (core) support, hood, both fenders, front bumper, bumper support, bumper reinforcement, grille, fender brackets, side markers and hood latch/cable, plus small dealer clips, grommets and bumper guides. The USDM upper radiator support is removed by drilling out its spot welds; one writeup counts about 40 to 50. The JDM support is then bolted in (bolts and washers through the drilled holes) or welded. Some body metal also has to be cut away for the headlights to fit. The hood latch has to be swapped for a 1990–1993 Integra latch or remounted on the original bracket. The headlight wiring must be adapted to the USDM harness.
Important caveats
- You can't fit the headlights alone. The USDM radiator support, hood, fenders and bumper are shaped for the four-lamp USDM lights.
- Removing the upper radiator support means drilling out roughly 40–50 spot welds with a spot-weld cutter. The how-to bolts the JDM support in, but other posters in the same thread say to weld it in. It is part of the front structure, so welding (or a body shop) is the conservative choice.
- Part of the body has to be cut to clear the headlights, and the hood latch needs modifying or replacing.
- The headlight wiring needs to be adapted. The how-to calls for about 25–50 ft of 16-gauge wire and connectors.
- Neither source covers beam pattern or road legality. JDM lamps are built for left-hand traffic, so check your local lighting rules before driving on the road.
- Model years for the JDM donor parts were not confirmed in the sources. Match the bumper to the headlights you buy.
