The CR-Z factory recess measures roughly 110mm x 82mm, whereas EP3 and FD2 Type R emblems are about 95mm x 75mm (3.75 in x 3 in). The Type R badges therefore overlap the outline of the recess rather than seating inside it, contacting only the raised edge, which is less secure without added tape. Common fitment is the FD2/Fit front emblem (Honda part# 75700-SNW-003) and the 04-05 EP3 rear emblem (Honda part# 75700-S5T-E11), though some owners run the same front emblem front and rear. The rear application benefits most from foam tape because a curved emblem gaps in the middle against the flatter rear panel. A larger 06+ Civic Si front (about 1/8 to 1/4 inch over stock) covers the indentation more fully on both ends.
The locating posts on the back of the replacement emblems often do not line up with the holes in the CR-Z body and must be trimmed or snapped off with pliers so the badge sits flat. Because these Type R emblems are larger than the CR-Z factory indentation, 3M double-sided foam tape is added inside the recess to fill the void, build up the surface, and level the badge. Removing the stock front emblem generally breaks it free of its two mounting posts, so the OEM front badge is usually sacrificed.

Important Caveats

  • • There is no genuine Honda Fit red emblem; the badge sold as a Fit front is the same one used on other models. The only factory red H emblems come from the DC5, EP3 (two sizes), FN2, and FD2.
  • • DC5 emblems are noticeably smaller and may be too small for the CR-Z recess.
  • • Honda's European parts catalog only lists emblems for cars sold in Europe, so JDM-only sizes (EK9, DC5) can be hard to source and confirm by part number.
  • • Type R badges carry no functional meaning on a CR-Z; this is a purely cosmetic fitment.
