Step-by-Step Instructions
1 Clean the upper door frame
Work on one door at a time. Spray glass cleaner along the top edge of the door frame where the visor and its tape will contact the paint, and wipe it fully dry with a lint-free cloth. Removing road film, wax, and oils here is what lets the double-sided tape grip; skipping it is the most common reason a visor lifts later.
2 Sort and identify the clip hardware
Empty the fastener bag into a lidded container so nothing rolls away. Per side you get two large clip holders and one small clip holder; the small one carries an L or R stamp to mark which door it belongs to. The small stamped clip is the one that lives up near the side mirror, while the two larger holders sit further back along the frame.
3 Position the clip holders under the weather strip
You do not need to strip the whole weather strip off. Peel it back only far enough to slip each clip holder into place. Start with the clip nearest the mirror and work rearward. Seat the front stamped clip so it faces toward the front of the car and tucks into the black triangular trim behind the mirror, rather than pushing up into the weather stripping. If unsure of spacing, rest the visor loosely on the frame first to see where each holder needs to land, then set the clips and press the weather strip back down.
4 Partially expose the visor's adhesive
Turn to the visor. Lift only the end sections of the double-sided tape backing, leaving most of the strip still covered. Do not strip all the backing at this stage: with the whole strip live you lose the ability to shift the visor, and it will bond wherever it first touches.
5 Set the visor and engage the clips
Lay the visor onto the door frame. The small areas of exposed tape hold it roughly in position while you line up the clip holes with the holders you seated earlier. Push each plastic clip firmly through the hole in the visor and into its matching holder from the outside so the visor is mechanically captured, not relying on tape alone.
6 Peel the remaining backing in stages and align
With the clips holding the visor, remove the rest of the tape backing a little at a time. After each small section is exposed, nudge the visor so its lower edge runs parallel to the door frame, then press that section down. Working incrementally like this lets you correct the alignment as you go and finish with an even gap along the whole length.
7 Repeat on the opposite door
Move to the other side and run through the same sequence, remembering that the small clip for that door carries the opposite L or R stamp. Once both visors are seated and firmly pressed, let the adhesive set undisturbed before leaving windows cracked in wet weather.
