K20Z3 engine and 6-speed (K-swap)
into Civic (from Civic Si)
Yes: the K20Z3 engine and 6-speed (K-swap) from the Civic Si (2006-2011) fits the Civic (2006-2011) — difficult difficulty, modifications required.
Installation notes
Required modifications
Swap mounts: Hasport FGK1 K-series kit for 2006-2011 Civics that originally had the R18 engine. Transmission: compatible with RSX, EP3, 06-11 Civic Si, 08-13 Accord, 09-14 TSX and 12-15 Civic Si transmissions; Hasport says the 06-11 Civic Si unit is best and, with Civic Si shift cables, works with the stock manual shifter. Also needed: Si engine harness and ECU integration (immobilizer and drive-by-wire), Si axles or axles to suit the transmission, cooling, intake and exhaust. Automatic cars need a full manual pedal/shifter conversion.
Important caveats
- Hasport states the FGK1 kit can only be used in models that originally came with the R18 engine.
- Hasport's page is written for manual-shifter cars; converting an automatic adds pedals, shifter and wiring work.
- The K20Z3 is drive-by-wire; engine harness, ECU and immobilizer integration with the R18 chassis must be planned separately.
- The Civic Hybrid (FA3) is a different chassis setup and is not covered by this kit.
