This fitment targets EG and EK Civics and the DC2 Integra using a Hybrid Racing 02-04 conversion harness alongside the Hondata parts. It is not plug-and-play and requires both 02-04 and 05-06 (RSX Type-S manual) pinout diagrams. Simply splicing the 05-06 VSS connector into an older harness does not work because the signal frequency differs. If the converted K-Pro is unavailable, VTEC and other speed-gated features can still be enabled through the 'create constant speed signal' option, but the speedometer will not read. The wire relocations are confined to the ECU; nothing in the engine bay or under the dash needs rewiring.
The later gearbox bolts to the K-series engine, but its electronic speed sensor outputs pulses at a far higher frequency than the 02-04 unit, so the speedometer and speed-dependent features will not work without signal conversion. The proven path is to run the 05-06 engine harness, a 02-04 ECU, and a Hondata K-Pro that has had an internal high/low speedometer frequency converter installed (the ECU must be sent to Hondata when ordering the 05-06 jumper harness). About six wires are then relocated at the ECU only, split between the Hondata jumper harness and the 05-06 engine harness, to restore the VSS, tachometer, fuel pump, oxygen sensor, and coolant temperature circuits. The VSS output from the 05-06 adapter (pin 26) is routed to the cluster speedometer input, and the '05 VSS' option is enabled in K-Pro.

Important Caveats

  • The K-Pro must be the specific Hondata-converted 05-06 version; a standard 02-04 K-Pro will not read the later speed signal even with the correct option selected.
  • Home-made jumper harnesses or K-Pros will not include the internal frequency converter and will not work.
  • Grounding the E1 pin to the chassis to force the fuel pump to prime can overheat the conversion-harness relay and melt wiring; relocate the proper fuel-pump wire instead.
  • Verified on EK/DC2/EG chassis only; the originator did not confirm the method on 02+ Civic or RSX chassis.
  • AEM EMS compatibility was discussed but never confirmed.
