This retrofits the European Jazz's factory automatic climate control into a US/Canada Fit that was never offered the feature. What bolts up: the mode motor locates on an existing boss, the air-mix motor screws to an existing mount, and the factory blower motor, air filter, and tray transfer directly into the new blower box. What does not: multiple servo mounts are absent on the Fit and rely on VHB standoffs, and the resistor opening must be enlarged for the transistor. The conversion needs the complete EDM interior harness (32117-TF2-R40), a separate outdoor temperature sensor harness (a CR-Z is a convenient donor), and the Jazz sub cord (32157-TF0-G30) that connects to the servos via the 36-pin connector; the sub cord itself needs no changes. The original Fit harnesses and connectors are left fully intact so the car can be reverted to stock. Display units are Celsius on European donors; only the Fit EV unit reads Fahrenheit. Plan on roughly 15 hours of labor.
Substantial cutting and fabrication is required. The plastic dash brace must be cut at two points (wider than marked) to clear the blower on removal. The factory blower resistor opening must be widened sideways to seat the power transistor. A quarter-sized hole is cut at the aspirator template on the heater unit, a rectangle is cut in the passenger-side dash top for the sunlight sensor (about 3mm plastic, ~1.5cm clearance below), and the lower portion of the cable holder is trimmed or drilled so the new air-mix lever clears. Several servo mounting points have no bosses on the Fit and must be built up with stacks of 3M VHB tape. Ten wires from the donor interior harness are soldered directly into the Fit's wiring, including a B-CAN tap at pin 18 (light green) behind the gauge cluster and a non-color-matched ILL- run to the red dimmer wire (pin 1 large harness / pin 5 small harness), because the EDM car lacks a dash-dimming feature.

Important Caveats

  • Two lever/baffle versions exist; the listed parts fit only cars whose recirculation baffle hinges from the top. Verify before purchasing or the parts will not fit.
  • Display color and language vary by donor year and trim; the Jazz Hybrid unit most closely matches the stock Fit cluster color.
  • Most components are only available used from Europe (UK car breakers, bildelsbasen.se) or new from Lings Honda; parts sourcing is the most difficult and expensive part of the project.
  • The ECM is not involved: only B-CAN sensor input and vehicle speed feed the unit. Erratic compressor cycling points to a loose solder joint (check the blue A/C wire) or the A/C system's own evaporator/condenser sensor cutoff, not the engine controller.
  • Solder and insulate every wire join; quick-tap connectors are not reliable enough for this system.
