Fitting a 1999-2000 Civic Si Front Lip to a 1992-1995 EG Civic Bumper
Introduction
This guide covers mounting a front lip from a 1999-2000 sixth-generation Civic Si onto the front bumper of a 1992-1995 fifth-generation (EG) Civic. Because the Si bumper is slightly wider than the EG's, the lip will not simply bolt on flush; it needs one central anchor, double-sided tape along the face, and a pair of adjustable corner screws to draw the sides in and close the gap that otherwise appears at the front corners. Step-by-Step Instructions
1 Remove the front bumper
Take the bumper off the car before starting; aligning the lip on a bench is much easier than fighting it while it hangs on the vehicle. Undo the five wide-head Phillips screws that fasten the top edge of the bumper to the front of the frame. Pop out the plastic guards at each side to release the outer bumper edges from the fenders, then remove the two 10mm bolts underneath that secure the lower bumper valance. With all fasteners out, pull the bumper free.
2 Dry-fit the lip and set the center anchor
Lay the removed bumper face-up and rest the Si lip over it in position. The central mounting hole on the lip's bracket lines up with the middle hole in the bumper. Pass the short screw through both holes, add the wide washer and nut on the back, and tighten. This single fastener locates the lip and holds the middle section firmly in place.
3 Bond the face with double-sided tape
Apply strips of 3M double-sided tape where the lip needs to be pulled tight against the bumper: the center, the mid-side areas, and along the edges. Keep the tape tucked out of sight. On its own the tape will not hold the lip, but paired with the mechanical fasteners it seats the panel down and helps eliminate the side gaps that show up on poorly fitted installs.
4 Mark and drill the corner adjustment holes
The 1999-2000 Si bumper is a little wider than the EG bumper, so the lip ends sit proud at the front corners and leave a gap. Push each corner inward to preview the fit and note where the end hole on the lip lands against the bumper. Drill a 4mm hole at each of those two marks, sizing it so the long screw threads in tightly and nothing shows from outside.
5 Fit and adjust the corner pull-in screws
Run a long flat-ended screw through each drilled hole from the inside. Thread a nut onto the exposed end, leaving roughly two threads showing so the tip seats into the lip's end hole. Adjust each screw from inside to move the corner in or out; backing the nut outward draws the sides in tighter, which closes the corner gap created by the wider Si bumper.
6 Reinstall the bumper and check the fit
Refit the bumper to the car by reversing the removal steps: the two lower 10mm bolts, the side fender guards, and the five top Phillips screws. Confirm every tape strip is pressed down firmly and that both corners sit flush with no visible gap before calling the job finished.

- 💡 Do the job with the bumper off the car and in good light; trying to hold the lip in place on the vehicle lets it drop repeatedly and makes alignment much harder.
