K20A2 engine and 6-speed (K-swap)
into NSX (from RSX Type-S)
Yes: the K20A2 engine and 6-speed (K-swap) from the RSX Type-S (2002-2004) fits the NSX (1991-2005) — difficult difficulty, modifications required.
Installation notes
Required modifications
Swap mounts: Innovative Mounts 81550 K-series conversion kit for 1990-2005 NSX (left, right and rear mounts; front mount optional). Innovative describes it as bolt-on with no chassis modification, for K-series engines with a K20 manual transmission; it does not fit K24 Accord/TSX/Euro R transmissions, and a K24 engine needs the K24A1 post mount. Shifting: Hybrid Racing's NSX K-swap shifter cables (for K20A2/K20A3/K20Z1 transmissions) used with its RSX shifter and RWD transmission bracket, because FWD K-swap cables are too short and route the wrong way. Also needed: axles, harness/ECU, cooling and exhaust.
Important caveats
- Innovative's NSX kit does not fit K24 Accord/TSX/Euro R transmissions; a K20 manual transmission is required.
- Normal EG/EK/DC K-swap shifter cables are too short for the NSX, per Hybrid Racing.
- Replacing the NSX's original C-series V6 is a major, value-affecting change to a collectible car.
- Vendor pages do not specify axle or ECU solutions for the NSX.
