Integra power-steering pinion assembly (quick-ratio steering)
into Civic EK
Yes: the Integra power-steering pinion assembly (quick-ratio steering) from the Integra (1998-2001) fits the Civic EK (1996-2000) — moderate difficulty, modifications required.
Installation notes
Required modifications
Swap only the pinion gear assembly from an Integra power-steering rack into the Civic EK power-steering rack. Keep the Civic pinion housing and reuse the Civic shims so the pinion sits at the correct depth; wrong shimming can seat the bearing incorrectly and wear the rack. Power assist is retained. Check toe afterwards. Manual-steering EK cars first need a complete EK power-steering rack and the power-steering column U-joint.
Important caveats
- Swapping a complete Integra rack into an EK is a different job; it needs Integra subframe and arm parts and can reduce maximum steering angle.
- Lock-to-lock figures differ between sources (about 3.1 vs 3.2 turns).
- Claims that late or Type R Integra racks have an even quicker ratio are unverified; owners who opened them reported identical gears.
- Steering effort rises slightly with the quicker ratio.
- No OEM part numbers were confirmed for this entry.
