The Accord oval tip profile matches the oval cutout of the stock GE8 Fit Sport rear bumper, so no bumper trimming is required. Fitment is entirely a bolt-on/clamp-on job with no welding when using the fabricated spacer-and-strap method. Budget for high-temperature paint and oven curing of the hardware to prevent rust.
The Accord tips do not bolt directly to the Fit tailpipe. The Accord exhaust pipe is larger in diameter than the Fit's and the Accord tip body is shorter than the factory Fit tip, so custom spacers and a retaining strap must be fabricated. Two U-shaped pipe brackets are stacked around the tailpipe as diameter shims, and a flat perforated metal strap about 7cm long ties the tip to the factory tailpipe mounting flange, secured with two metric bolts and one nut plus permanent-strength thread locker. Because the tip mouth is wider than the Fit pipe, a round escutcheon plate is fitted inside the tip to hide the smaller pipe, and the chrome interior is painted flat black to disguise the true bore.

Important Caveats

  • This is an appearance modification only; it does not alter the exhaust system's flow or sound.
  • The larger Honda S2000 (AP2) tips are a wider alternative but generally require welding to the muffler rather than a bolt-on strap.
  • Untreated fasteners will loosen from exhaust heat and vibration; thread locker is essential to keep the tips from falling off.
