This is a cosmetic/accessory fitment, not an ignition conversion. The button mounts into a fabricated blank panel in the RSX dash. Cars without factory foglights already have one spare blank; a second blank is ordered from Acura. Because the RSX key uses an immobilizer chip, the button does not start the engine on its own and the key is still required. While the panel is out, the cruise-control switch can be reconnected and hidden so cruise operates from the steering wheel only.
The S2000 button does not drop into any factory RSX opening. A custom switch panel is fabricated from two blank inserts: they are skimmed with body filler for a uniform face, a 1 1/4 inch hole is drilled for the button, and the panel is sanded, primed, and painted before the button is glued in with super glue and epoxy. The button body is deep, so wiring behind the dash usually needs rerouting for the panel to seat.

Important Caveats

  • The thread does not document wiring the button to the ignition; contributors repeatedly asked and it was never detailed.
  • The immobilizer chip in the key means a hidden or spare key alone will not defeat the security system.
  • The button is long, so panel clearance behind the dash is tight and may require wire management.
