Wiring uses the Civic Hybrid EPS control unit Connector C pinout, which matches the EP3 Civic Si per both factory manuals. The LED negative leg ties to C6 YEL/BLU (EPS warning light) and its positive leg is powered from the RSX cluster harness: B7 Yellow on 02-04 cars or B6 Yellow on 05-06 cars, both fed by Fuse 10 under the dash. For diagnostic communication, the brown wire on the back of the DLC is spliced to C8 BRN (service check signal) and the gray wire to C20 GRY (Diagnosis-H). Result is OEM-like behavior: telltale on with ignition, off within about two seconds when no codes are stored, plus the ability to read/clear codes and reset the BCU.
The donor EPS logo and indicator LED are physically grafted into the RSX cluster: the salvaged LED circuit board is trimmed with tin snips to seat in the empty indicator slot above the odometer LEDs, the emblem is bonded over that slot, and a same-size window is cut in the printed gauge face so the light reads through. Two leads are soldered to the LED (observing the negative-leg marking near the 5 o'clock position) and routed out the back of the cluster, then spliced into the RSX harness and the DLC. No factory EPS telltale provision exists in the RSX cluster, so all of this is fabricated by hand.

Important Caveats

  • • Power-wire designation differs by RSX year: B7 Yellow (2002-2004) versus B6 Yellow (2005-2006) at cluster Connector B.
  • • Keep several spare LEDs, as some burn out during soldering.
  • • Incorrect LED polarity leaves the telltale dark; the negative leg is marked by a triangle/arrow near the 5 o'clock position on the board.
  • • Cluster teardown is model-specific and not covered here; damaging the printed face or lens is a real risk.
