K20Z3 engine and 6-speed transmission
into Fit (from Civic Si)
Yes: the K20Z3 engine and 6-speed transmission from the Civic Si (2006-2011) fits the Fit (2007-2008) — difficult difficulty, modifications required.
Installation notes
Required modifications
Engine mounts: Hasport GDK20 is brackets only and reuses the stock Fit rubber mounts; Hasport lists it for a K20 engine with an RSX or 2002-2011 Civic Si transmission, and Hybrid Racing's listing of the same kit (HAS-GDK20) says it takes a K20 or K24. Shifter: Hybrid Racing sells made-to-order shifter cables, longer than the stock Fit cables, for GD/GE Fits with a K-series engine and the K20Z3 transmission. Also needed: engine wiring and ECU (including the drive-by-wire throttle), axles, cooling, fuel, exhaust and clutch hydraulics.
Important caveats
- Hasport lists the GDK kit for 06-08 Fit while Hybrid Racing lists it for 07-08; the US-market GD3 Fit was sold for 2007-2008.
- The Hasport GDK kit only works with RSX or 2002-2011 Civic Si transmissions.
- Hybrid Racing's K20Z3 shifter cables are made to order and will not work with other transmissions.
- The K20Z3 uses drive-by-wire throttle, so ECU and pedal setup must be planned.
