This conversion moves Acura RSX rotors and four-piston Brembo calipers (from the DC5 RSX Type-S, or alternatively the CL9 TSX Type-S) onto the 8th-generation Civic front hubs. RSX rotors serve as the larger rotor. When the Brembo calipers are used, they require S2000 rotors (Honda OEM units are strongest; Brembo or Mountain blanks also work) or spacers on the existing rotor. The calipers run 350Z brake pads. Each Brembo caliper has two bleeder screws (front and rear) and both must be bled. In the documented build the parts were exchanged with a 2004 RSX base model: the Civic Si calipers and rotors went onto the RSX and the RSX rotors came onto the Si.
The factory heat/dust shield (backing plate) must be trimmed for clearance around the larger rotor and Brembo caliper. This is the only fabrication required; the rotors and calipers otherwise bolt up. The Brembo calipers do not clear a standard rotor, so they must be paired with S2000 rotors (or rotor spacers) to achieve the correct offset.

Important Caveats

  • • Front brakes are safety-critical; confirm a firm pedal and full bleed of both bleeder screws per caliper before driving.
  • • Brembo calipers will not clear a standard rotor without S2000 rotors or spacers.
  • • Heat/dust shield trimming is mandatory for clearance.
