DC5/TSX Type-S Brembo front calipers with RSX rotors

This conversion moves Acura RSX rotors and four-piston Brembo calipers (from the DC5 RSX Type-S, or alternatively the CL9 TSX Type-S) onto the 8th-generation Civic front hubs. RSX rotors serve as the larger rotor. When the Brembo calipers are used, they require S2000 rotors (Honda OEM units are strongest; Brembo or Mountain blanks also work) or spacers on the existing rotor. The calipers run 350Z brake pads. Each Brembo caliper has two bleeder screws (front and rear) and both must be bled. In the documented build the parts were exchanged with a 2004 RSX base model: the Civic Si calipers and rotors went onto the RSX and the RSX rotors came onto the Si.

Dual-piston front brake calipers (with larger rotors)

The Legend GS front calipers are dual-piston units and come as loaded assemblies, so they bolt to the 1G CL front knuckle without adapters. Pair them with the larger 11-3/32" (11.5") front rotors from a 1996 Prelude VTEC (part number 39796374R) rather than the smaller 10" rotor some applications used. Fresh front brake lines are recommended while the hydraulics are open. The Legend proportioning valve is not needed; the CL's existing brake balance was reported to work fine after the swap. This fitment applies to the 4-lug 2.3CL; other 1G CL trims may require different rotors.

TSX front brake kit (calipers, brackets, and rotors)

The 2006 TSX front calipers and brackets share the Civic's mounting geometry and bolt directly to the factory knuckle using the two bracket-to-knuckle bolts, so no adapter is required. Braided stainless front lines (e.g. Technafit for the 8th-gen Civic) connect to the caliper with a banjo bolt stacked copper washer / line / copper washer / bolt. Beyond the dust-shield clearancing, the main fitment catch is wheel clearance: the larger calipers foul the stock EX steel wheels. SI-style alloy wheels clear without help; otherwise a wheel spacer is required (one owner used 15mm spacers with EX steelies, the original builder ran 5mm). This upgrade addresses the undersized, warp-prone factory front brakes without the cost of a full aftermarket big-brake kit.

Calipers and rotors bolt up cleanly once the Scarebird brackets are installed, using the existing Fit hub and the four original backing-plate bolts. Extras required beyond the brakes themselves: the Scarebird brackets; Integra parking-brake arms and mounting bolts (43267-SH3-931 left arm, 43247-SH3-931 right arm, 45240-SC2-003 bolts); 1987 Legend parking-brake cables with holding pin 43471-SD2-930 and cotter pin 90705-SD2-931; and conversion brake lines. ABS function is unaffected and no master-cylinder change is needed. FastBrakes now sells parking-brake cable adapters that allow the factory Fit cables to be retained, which avoids sourcing the Legend cables and grinding the floor slots.

Type R front brake calipers with 280mm Mini Cooper rotors

The Type R front caliper is shared across the 97-99 CL, 97-01 Integra, mid-1990s Accord, 97-01 CR-V, 95-98 Odyssey, 93-01 Prelude, and Isuzu Oasis, and cheap reman cores are common. It uses the same piston size as the stock Integra caliper, so pedal effort is unchanged. Mount it with the 23T bracket that comes with the caliper (spaced for a 23mm rotor, correct for the 22mm Mini disc); avoid a 25T bracket. The rotor is a 280mm front disc from a 2007 base Mini Cooper (not the S), about 11 in diameter versus the roughly 10.3 in stock disc; its center bore matches the Honda hub so it centers with no machining, though its bolt holes are 1-2mm oversize. Pair with 04-08 Acura TSX pads (PXD787H, ACT787, or GNAD787) for zero overhang. Use the brackets from your chosen five-lug calipers, add stainless lines, and bleed all four corners. The same conversion accepts Legend/NSX two-piston or Spoon calipers, which bolt to the Type R bracket pattern. An optional rear upgrade uses RSX/EP3 or ITR rear calipers with 02-03 Civic Si (EP3) 4x100 rear rotors, moving the parking-brake arm across.
