H22A1 engine and manual transmission
into Accord (from Prelude VTEC)
Yes: the H22A1 engine and manual transmission from the Prelude VTEC (1993-1996) fits the Accord (1994-1997) — moderate difficulty, modifications required.
Installation notes
Required modifications
Engine mounts: Hasport CDH1 (designed for the Prelude-style transmission and uses the Prelude rear bracket) or an Innovative 94-97 Accord conversion kit; Innovative sells different kits for EX (29751, H22/F22A) and DX/LX (29750) cars. Innovative requires the 92-01 Prelude H-series timing-belt post mount, Honda part 11910-P13-000. Innovative says no hood notching or trimming is needed. Also wiring/ECU, axles, shifter linkage, cooling and exhaust for the H22.
Important caveats
- Innovative sells different kits for Accord EX and DX/LX cars; order by trim.
- The Innovative kits need the 92-01 Prelude H-series post mount (11910-P13-000).
- Hybrid Racing notes there is no single part number for this job; the kit depends on the engine and on the trim of the Accord.
- The 1997-2001 Prelude H22A4 is a later version of the same engine family; confirm mount and post-mount fitment if using it.
