The TSX module shares the CR-Z's overhead-console footprint and mounts with the two factory 8 mm screws into the existing EX 10-pin location, adding Homelink buttons, blue ambient lighting and a HFL microphone. The EX already provides the 10-pin connector and switched power in the headliner. The Accord-with-Navi module (39180-SDA-A52ZA) is an equivalent donor but has an amber LED rather than blue; the blue LED can be transplanted from a TSX unit. A map light case from the GE8 Fit (P/N 34404-SNA-A21ZD) can be fitted for a closer color match. Base CR-Z cars use a different 4-pin connector and have no switched 12V at that spot, so they require additional wiring and cannot use this drop-in approach.
No cutting of the vehicle harness is required and the swap is reversible, but the 10-pin green connector must be re-pinned to match the TSX module's layout, and one additional terminal must be added to feed constant, unswitched +12V to the Homelink. That terminal is sourced from a donor green connector (for example the base 6MT steering-wheel MID sub-harness) and its lead extended to about 5-6 inches with a splice. Only the red wire retains its original connector position; all others are relocated. The added +12V pin seats in the center socket and must be installed before its neighboring pins.

Important Caveats

  • • The switch's middle 'ON' dome-light position is lost; only 'OFF' and 'DOOR' remain, and this cannot be recovered by repinning because the logic is on the module's circuit board.
  • • Some used modules retain the microphone grille but have no microphone fitted, including certain NAVI units; verify the mic if HandsFree Link is wanted.
  • • Map light and reading light grounding depends on the mounting screws being tight; loose screws leave those lamps dead while Homelink still works.
  • • Color match is imperfect: the CR-Z's gray cabin trim is coded 'Light Gray', whereas the TSX, Accord and Fit parts are 'Clear Gray'.
  • • Battery disconnect may trigger a radio security-code lockout; pulling fuse #1 is an alternative but the code may still be required afterward.
