Installation notes
Yes — the OEM shocks, springs and sway bars from a 2006-2007 Honda S2000 (AP2) fit a 2000-2003 Honda S2000 (AP1) and bolt up without modification. In an s2ki 'OEM suspension mix and match' thread, twohoos says everything will fit and posts spring rates by year. They show the later cars are stiffer at the front and softer at the rear (262/269 lb/in against 219/291 for 2000-2001). In other s2ki threads members confirm AP1 and AP2 shocks bolt on. They note that damping and spring rates differ year to year. twohoos adds that tires and rear geometry made the larger AP1-to-AP2 handling difference, and the spring and bar changes were mostly tweaks.
Caution
Important caveats
- Shock valving differs by year; mixing one year's springs with another year's shocks may not be balanced.
- Fitting the AP2 suspension does not give the AP1 the AP2's rear suspension geometry, which s2ki members credit with much of the handling change.
- Spring rates quoted are one member's measurements; European AP2 figures posted elsewhere differ slightly.
- Used OEM shocks may be worn; members suggest new shocks rather than old ones.
- Change one thing at a time and realign; one owner warns against changing springs and alignment together.
